Do You Know How To Continue A Pattern?

First I used this picture to continue a pattern. Then showed my working out on a graph.
This graph shows how each factor is increased by the previous number of squares than adding 2 grey squares and 6 red squares.

WAHLT: Find and continue a pattern - recording results in a table and transfer these result to a graph.

Triangles & 180 Degrees

Image result for triangles
This morning in Maths we investigated the angles of triangles.
1) Firstly I drew an equilateral triangle.
2) I tore off each point of the triangle leaving three equal parts.
3) I connected them like puzzle pieces and that formed a line.
4) This time we drew and cut a isosceles triangle.
5) Tearing off the angles again, I repeated the process and found that they too formed a line.
6) 180 degree is also known as a straight line.
The angles of a triangle add up to 180 degrees.

Degrees Of Triangles

Today I have been practising my numeracy skills in subtraction and addition as I have solved problems involving finding the unknown value of pronumerals with the angles in triangles

Very Oily Maths!

We are learning to analyse word problems involving units of mass, volume, time, and money
Oil Toil

a. Joan and Dave harvest a total of 1 200 kg of olives from their grove.-(FALSE) 600x20=12000

b. The olives from 2 trees fit into 1 bin.-(FALSE) 20/2=10

c. If they had to store all their harvested olives, Dave and Joan would need 1 200 bins.-12000/10=1200

d. In an 8 hour day, the press can process 2 000 kg of olives.-(TRUE) 250x8=2000

e. It takes 8 days to process Dave and Joan’s olives.-250x80=20000

f. If all 10 growers in Joan and Dave’s group have the same sized groove, each produces 1 440 L of oil.-(TRUE) 1440x10=14400

g. Joan and Dave’s olives produce 5 760 bottles of oil.-(False) 5760x20=115200

h. If Joan and Dave pack all their bottles of oil in cartons, they’ll need 188 of them.-14400/12=12200

i. Each carton holds 5 L of oil.-(TRUE) 5x20=100  L

j. If Dave and Joan sell all their oil, they will earn $115,200.-$20x$57600=$115200

k. Each tree earns around $19.20 each season.-(TRUE) $19.20x4=$76.80

Lets Go Camping!

Screenshot 2015-06-29 at 12.24.08 PM.png
I did a statistical investigation of where to go for camp.
I rolled the dice 4 times so it the number of times a place could be chosen, would be fair.

  • Lake Waihonu had the most rolls so it was the chosen place to go.
  • Mt. Albury had the least rolls so it was the place not to go.
  • Marama had 4 rolls but wasn't enough to beat Lake Waihonu.

Hold On, This Pattern Is About To Get Wild!

* The Colours must repeat itself.
* They have to be even shapes.
WALT understand colour patterns.
I know this when I can repeat different colours.

Someday You Will Be Super Smart!

WALT share information from a math problem.
I know this when I write 4 different ways to answer correctly 48.

Be A Math Magician!

WALT read and understand multiplication and division word problems.
I know this when I write out my workings to reach the correct answer.

David spent 74 cents at the school store.
He bought a notebook for 35 cents, a ruler for 18 cents, and 3 pencils.
What is the cost of one pencil?

1. 21 divided by 3=7

Kimberly had 37 cents.
She returned 9 cans to the recycling center.
Kimberly receives 5 cents for each can she recycles.
How much money did Kimberly have then?

2. 9x5=45, 45x2=90, 90-8=82

The Tasty Treat restaurant has 6 tables and 8 booths.
The tables can seat 4 people.
The booths can seat 6 people.
On Saturday afternoon, every seat if the restaurant was taken.
How many people were seated?
3. 6x6=36, 36x2=72

There are 7 desks in the science lab, 11 desks in the math room, and 12 desks in the art room. All three rooms mut have the same number of desks.
How many desks should be in each room?
4. 11-1=10, 12-2=10, 7+3=10

Yummy, Yummy In My Tummy!

WALT understand and interpret information on a graph
I can do this when I write two statements about the chart.

1. Orange was the favourite fruit because it is juicy and sweet.
2. The least favourite fruit was the pear because it is not as juicy.

The Easiest Way

WALT solve the answer of a multiplication problem using little bit less.

I know I have learned this by making a strategies and by making a presentation. My digital object shows how you do my working out and what I did to come up with the right answer.

This presentation shows what I did to make the answer of 6 x 81 = ?
